Life's Still a Beach...

I left North Myrtle Beach on Thursday and am in Pawleys Island for a few days. These pictures are from a day spent on the beach in Pawleys.

Cat's Playground

I remember as a child having a playroom my friends & I played in. It was a place we didn't have to worry about bothering the adults or messing anything up. Tillman & Eli (my mom's cats) have a playground of their own. It's the garage. They love going into the garage, running around, and hiding. Earlier today, I spotted Eli on the lawn mower and then later on a shelf hidden between old paint cans.

Greg Norman's Australian Grille

Earlier today I wrote about family vacation traditions. Another tradition involves food...again. Going to dinner at Greg Norman' Australian Grille is a must. For some reason over the years I've always missed the Greg Norman's tradition. But not this year! I made sure to put it on the itinerary while I'm here! So tonight was the night! For dinner I had seared ahi tuna served on creamy risotto in a bourbon sauce. Deeeelicious!

Traditions

Traditions are fun. Traditions are important. My family has traditions when we vacation in North Myrtle Beach. Mainly surrounding food! We love our food! When one meal is over, we're planning the next! One is to always stay in the towers at Ocean Creek. Another is to go to Dino's House of Pancakes. Myrtle Beach is definitely NOT lacking in the restaurant department. Across the street is Barefoot Landing, which has many places to eat and shop. There used to be a restaurant across the street called The Crabhouse. It's no longer there but it has been replaced with Flying Fish Public Market & Grill. On our first night here, we always go across the street for dinner to what's now in that spot.... Flying Fish.
You may be wondering why I'm rambling about restaurants and traditions. I do have a point here (somewhere)! Last night for dinner we went to Hoskins Restaurant. Hoskins is a restaurant my mom, her siblings, & her parents went to eat when they vacationed in North Myrtle Beach waaaay back when! For some reason, this generation's vacations have never included Hoskins. I believe we have a new tradition! Hoskins is a small family-style restaurant with delicious homemade food...seafood & other traditional favorites. The end of the meal included a delicious slice of homemade strawberry pie (pictured below!) It was delish!
I hope you have traditions. There's something comforting about them.

Peaceful Sights

Two superb flags flying on the beach!

Ready for another day on the beach!

Fish Feeding

This was a crazy sight. While sitting outside eating at Broadway at the Beach, people were feeding these ginormous fish in the lake. Well, the ducks wanted some of the action, too. And this little duck was determined to get to the nibbles before the fish. If he had to walk all over the fish to get to it, well... .that's just what he'd do...

He loves life.
He's hard-working.
He's humorous.
He's supportive.
He's understanding.
He's dependable.
He's entertaining.
He's affectionate.
He's wonderful.
He's MY dad.

Looking Forward....

I'm looking forward to being here in just a matter of days.
It's what's getting me through this week that is filled with too much to do, too little time, & a tired mind & body.

Flag Day

Happy Flag Day!
Besides the fact that these flags are backwards, these are the 3 best flags!
The only one missing is the blue one with the Palmetto Tree & crescent moon...otherwise known as the SC state flag!

Trois, tres, तीन, tre, three, 3...

This many more days are left before the school year is over.
I love my job.
I love my sanity, too.
I need a vacation!!!

Rooftop

After a hazy, hot, humid, looks-like-it-might-rain-or-even-worse-storm day the skies cleared for a wonderful evening for a birthday celebration on a rooftop.

Food!

I get excited at school when there's a special lunch happening.
Today an 8th grade student was "Head of School for a Day".
He had a special lunch with 6 of his closest friends.
They had a great spread!
Spaghetti, meatballs, salad, and bread!
Some of my favorite things!
When their lunch was over, there was a ton left and he graciously let me have a plate!
It was a great treat for lunch.

These are a couple of pictures I took of the food!
Delish!

Naturally..

After Kingsbury Day School's graduation today, Kari & I went to Lauriol Plaza for some margarita yumminess!
It's a great day to sit on their roof to eat, drink, laugh, catch up, & talk about summer! Woo-hoo!

Side note: Random people biking down 16th Street blocking my way to my car

Track Meet

After school today, I spent some time at Cardozo High School at a track meet my school participated in.
Since we're a Pre-K - 12th grade school, students participating in this track meet were ages 9 - 18.
Pretty cool.
It's great to see some of our students demonstrate so many of their other abilities, such as, athletics outside of the classroom!
Great job, boys & girls!

Tackle Box

No, I did not go fishing.
I did go to a soft opening at Tackle Box tonight in Cleveland Park.
We had yummy oysters, tilapia, side dishes, wine & beer!
All for free for the neighborhood.
I'll definitely be returning to Tackle Box soon!
